Sin duda una gran maqueta en todos los sentidos. Con alrededor de 60 piezas repartidas, nada menos, que en siete bandejas más los transparentes y las calcas, este Ginga de Hasegawa tiene todo a favor para permitir al modelista sacarle el máximo partido. Para empezar la carlinga es soberbia, con un nivel de detalle excelente y además con dos calcas para los aparatos de a bordo que la realzan. Sólo por esto, el modelo ya destacaría, pero es que hay más: los motores, el tren de aterrizaje y los pozos del mismo están casi al mismo nivel de calidad. Lo mejor de todo, a mi juicio, es lo sencilla que parece de montar, en unos pocos pasos se encuentra uno con el avión rodando por la pista camino de ser pintado. Además, gracias a unas piezas bien moldeadas y cortadas, nos da la sensación de que la lija y la masilla se van a quedar en la caja de herramientas durante bastante tiempo.
Los paneles de alas y fuselajes están bien trazados y no creo que hayan de retocarse. El compartimento de bombas puede ir cerrado o abierto, en este último caso se podrían ver las dos bombas de 500 kilos que incluye la maqueta. Con el añadido de los dos depósitos desechables, prácticamente redondeamos un modelo ejemplar de la marca japonesa del que cuesta trabajo encontrar aspectos negativos. Por decir algo, sería de desear que se hubiesen incluido las figuras de los tripulantes (a lo mejor ya es pasarse), y también que el esquema de pintura no fuese el mismo para las dos versiones que se ofrecen (del 761 y 762 Kokutai) con el consabido verde y gris japonés. Si bien es cierto que este fue el esquema de color más usado (yo al menos es el que he visto en más fotos de guerra), también lo es que hubo versiones de entrenamiento pintadas completamente en color anaranjado e incluso en este último color y la parte superior del morro en negro.
Dejando aparte el detalle de pintura mencionado, las instrucciones están al nivel del resto del contenido de la caja. Las calcas, aunque justitas para las dos versiones, tienen una pinta estupenda. Se hace verdaderamente difícil no repetirse en los elogios y tratar de ser lo más objetivo posible con maquetas como este Ginga, todo un ejemplo de buen hacer y calidad que bien vale el precio (alto) que se paga por ella.◊
This is a great kit in all senses. Including 60 parts in seven sprues apart from the clear sprue and the decal sheet, this Hasegawa Ginga has everything to let the modeler get the most of it. To begin with, the cockpit is superb, with excellent level of detail and there are even two decals for the instrument panels. The kit would be outstanding only for this, but there is something more: the engines, landing gear and wheel wells almost have the same quality. The best thing, I think, it is that this model seems quite easy to assemble. In just a few steps you can find it rolling on the runway heading for painting. I also think that sand and putty will remain in the toolbox longer than usual because the parts are well shaped and their fitting must be correct.
The panel lines on wings and fuselage are good and I do not think they will have to be retouched. You can build the Ginga with the bomb bay either close or open, in this latter case two 500 kg bombs will be seen. Assemble and attach the two drop tanks below the wings and you are done. This is really an almost perfect model of the Japanese company and it is difficult to find it a drawback. To mention at least two, I’d like the crew figures had been included (perhaps it is too much), and that the painting scheme had not been the same for the two versions shown (761st and 762nd Kokutais) with the common IJN green and grey. Although this was the most usual scheme, it is also true there were other Gingas painted in orange (perhaps a training version), some of them with their top nose in black.
Leaving aside the paint detail mentioned, instructions are at the level of the rest of the box contents. The decals, although enough for the two versions, look great. It is really difficult not to repeat yourself in the praises and try to be as objective as possible with models like this Ginga, an example of good work and quality that is well worth the price (high) that is paid for it.◊
