INSTRUCCIONES – INSTRUCTIONS:
- Folleto A4 de 4 páginas. Correcto y fácil de seguir. Referencia de pintura muy genérica.

LO MEJOR – THE BEST:
- Buen aspecto general. Fácil montaje. Panelado muy correcto, aunque muy poco profundo. Transparentes muy claros. Ruedas bien detalladas.
- Good general shape. Easy to assemble. Fine panel lines but too shallow. Very good clear parts. Correctly detailed wheels.
LO PEOR – THE WORST:
- Interiores muy pobres. Pozos del tren de aterrizaje sin detalle. Armamento sobredimensionado. Motor y parte del cubremotor en una sola pieza.
- Poor interior cockpit and wells. Guns out of scale. Engine and front cowling are moulded in one part.
VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:
- Maqueta desigual. De buen aspecto exterior, pero mal de detalles interiores. Para cualquier modelista.
- Uneven kit. Good exterior details but bad interior ones. For any modeler.
A uno le parece siempre que las maquetas de Academy están un poco fuera de escala por lo grandes que suelen ser, al menos en lo referente a aviones. Esto sucede con este Avenger TBF-1 que, siguiendo la costumbre de la marca, viene con un despiece simple (sólo cinco bandejas, unas 44 piezas), y eso que el plástico tiene buena calidad y los detalles grabados también. Claro que el modelo tiene ya sus años, fue lanzado en 1987. De entonces a ahora, ha llovido mucho. También en el modelismo.
Sin perder de vista que la materia prima es buena, es lástima que muchas zonas del avión no estén a la altura de lo esperado. La carlinga, por ejemplo, es pobre y ni siquiera consuela el hecho de adjuntar la figura de un patilargo piloto que más vale descartar. El motor va en una sola pieza con el morro y no hay posibilidad de detallarlo, a no ser que se sustituya entero por una pieza hecha por nosotros. El interior del avión podría haber estado mucho más detallado, aunque es verdad que la mayor parte de adiciones no se verían. Por último, la torre dorsal parece un poco más alta que la real y acaso sobresalga demasiado del fuselaje. Por lo demás, el encaje de las piezas no debe ser malo, porque, insisto, el material es quizás lo mejor de todo.
Como única opción se puede montar el tren de aterrizaje abierto o cerrado, ya que se incluye un soporte para mostrar el avión en vuelo al viejo estilo de las maquetas de Airfix. De versiones, nada de nada. Una (desconocida) y gracias que nos presenta al Avenger de tres colores: azul oscuro y azul intermedio sobre blanco. Y pare usted de contar, pues las calcas son para esta única versión de la que además no se dan referencias.
En resumen, una maqueta que no pasará a la historia y que se podía haber mejorado muchísimo sin gran esfuerzo. Aunque por los años que tiene, es cierto que pertenece a otra época modelísticamente hablando.◊
I usually think that Academy kits are a bit out of scale because they are usually bigger than one expects, at least as far as planes are concerned. The same happens to this Avenger TBF-1 that, as it is typical of the Korean company, has less parts than usual (only five sprues, some 35 parts), and it is a pity because the plastic has a good quality and the panel lines are nice. Indeed, the model is quite old, it was released in 1987. Since then, it has been a long time. Also for modelling.
Although the material is OK, some zones of the plane are not as accurate as we could hope. The cockpit, for example, is poorly detailed and includes a long-legged pilot figure which should be discarded. The engine comes inside the nose in the same part and will be difficult to detail unless you rebuild it completely. The interior could have been better, but it is true most details would not be seen. Last, the dorsal turret seems a bit higher than it should be. As for the rest, assembling must not be difficult because, I insist, the raw material is not bad, and this is perhaps the best of all.
Options are few. You can show the landing gear either open or close because there is a plastic holder for this that reminds me of the old Airfix kits I used to build. Versions of the plane? Just one and that is enough. There is a three-colour scheme: dark blue on top and intermediate blue for fuselage over white. And that’s it because the decals are for this only version which has not any other reference.
This is a kit which will not become a landmark in modeling and could have been improved without much effort. It is also true that the model is aged and belongs to other times.◊
