La caja contiene dos parejas de bastidores, dos para las figuras y otros dos para las cuatro motocicletas. Dos de las motocicletas pueden montarse con sidecar. Hay en total 8 parejas de figuras. Cada bastidor tiene seis figuras sentadas para las motos y otras dos de pie. Completan el contenido cuatro bases iguales (dos grandes y dos pequeñas) que sirven de apoyo a las motocicletas. No hay ni resto de rebabas pero sí de restos de expulsor en todas las figuras y las motos que no supone mucho trabajo eliminar. El plástico es un poco duro pero el molde es bastante bueno, no hay más que ver los radios de las ruedas o los detalles de los manillares.
Las figuras están moldeadas de una pieza con su equipo y armamento, incluso el ametrallador del sidecar lleva incorporada el arma. El detalle es bastante bueno para la escala y las poses naturales. Únicamente las figuras que van sentadas en el sidecar tienen menos detalles en las piernas y llevan parte del suelo pegado a los pies, pero este detalle no será muy visibles una vez colocadas en el vehículo. De las seis figuras en total que van sentadas en cada bastidor, tenemos dos opciones para el conductor, dos para el acompañante y otras dos para el pasajero del sidecar. Uno de los conductores lleva gafas y casco, mientras el otro lleva sólo gorra. Igualmente, el acompañante puede ir sentado o apoyado en la moto con un pie en el suelo mientras otea con prismáticos. Quizá esta última figura sea la más interesante de todas. Para el pasajero del sidecar tenemos el ametrallador (al que faltan los contenedores de munición que se colocaban a los lados del sidecar, como refleja el dibujo de la caja) o un soldado con su equipo personal sin ametralladora. Las dos figuras de pie también tienen atuendo y poses distintas con la base incorporada bajo sus pies.
Las motocicletas parecen representar una BMW R75 o una Zündapp KS750 (eran iguales en un 70%) bastante bien para su tamaño. Vienen de una pieza a excepción del manillar y el tanque de combustible que forman una pieza aparte. Especialmente bien conseguidos están los radios, los asientos y los detalles del manillar. Creo que se merecen al menos una pequeña calca con las matrículas que Italeri no ha incluido. El sidecar también es de una pieza excepto la rueda, que viene moldeada con el guardabarros, y la rueda de repuesto. El detalle es más básico y le faltan los contenedores de la ametralladora que mencionaba antes.
La ilustración de la parte posterior de la caja sirve como guía de montaje y pintura. Las referencias de color son de la gama Italeri. La figura que sirve de guía para pintar lleva uniforme en los colores del DAK, pero en realidad estas figuras pueden servir para prácticamente cualquier teatro de operaciones en tiempo sin nieve.
Está bien que Italeri le haya dedicado esta caja al olvidado tema (hasta ahora) de las motocicletas militares y más aún en la escala pequeña. Estas motocicletas y figuras pueden dar mucho juego en cualquier escena o diorama tanto militar como aéreo.◊
This box contains four sprues, two for the figures and another two for four motorcycles. Two of the vehicles can be assembled with a sidecar. There are also 8 double figures. Each sprue features six sitting figures for the bikes and three standing. Four plastic bases are included, again two big and two bigger ones for the bikes to stand on. Plastic is a bit on the hard side but there is no flash on parts but only ejector pins on all figures and some parts of the bikes that can be easily removed. The tooling, which the box announces as brand new, is quite good. Just have a look at the spokes or the crispy handlebars.
The figures are molded as one part with their weapons and equipment, even the sidecar gunner comes with his machine-gun molded on. Detail is quite good for the scale and the poses look realistic. Only the sitting figures for the sidecars have less detailed legs as these have been molded with their feet touching the sidecar floors, but this won’t be visible once they are glued onto the vehicles. There are two different poses for the sitting figures on each sprue, we have two drivers, two rear passengers and two for the soldier on the sidecar. One of the drivers wear goggles and helmet and the other only a field cap. In the same way, the rear passenger can be showed sitting or half standing with one leg on the floor while scanning the horizon through his binoculars. This is perhaps the most attractive figure of all. For the sidecar passenger we have a machine-gunner (which lacks the ammo containers fitted to both sides of the vehicle, as the boxart shows) or a soldier with just his own equipment. The two standing figures also show different poses and equipment and have a base molded under their feet.
The bikes seem to be either BMW 75s or Zündapp KS750 (both shared up to a 70% of parts) and they look really fine for the scale. The also come in just one part with the exception of the handlebar and fuel tank which are molded together in a separate part. Especially crispy details are the wheel spokes, the saddles and the handlebar grips. They should have deserved at least a tiny decal for the plates which Italeri have not included. The sidecar is just one part too with separate wheel with fender and spare wheel. Detail here is more basic and it lacks the ammo boxes I mentioned before.
The illustration on the back of the box is virtually the assembly and painting guide. Color references are given with Italeri numbers. There is a picture of a DAK soldier as a guide for painting the figures, but in fact these could be used in almost any war theatre without snowy weather.
All in all it is fine that Italery have released this box about a bit neglected topic (so far) such as WWII motorcycles and even more at the small scale. These figures and bikes can play their part in your next scene or diorama if you are a military or air enthusiast.◊
