LO MEJOR – THE BEST:

Buen detalle exterior e interior, panelado fino, montaje sencillo, opciones de armamento, versiones atractivas.
Fine exterior and interior detail, thin panel lines, easy assembly, undercarriage options, attractive versions.

LO PEOR – THE WORST:

Las calcas de Academy, como siempre, una incógnita.
Academy decals, as usual, not very reliable.

VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:

Buena maqueta bastante fácil de montar. Recomendada para cualquier modelista.
Good kit easy to assemble. Recommended to any modeler.

Maqueta casi idéntica a la referencia 12403, [ver reseña]. La única diferencia, además de las calcas y parte de las instrucciones es el bastidor J que contiene el armamento, compuesto por un par de misiles de cabeza nuclear Genie y cuatro cohetes GAR-2A Falcon, a elegir. El armamento está bien representado e incluye naturalmente los lanzadores bajo las alas. También lo están los depósitos de combustible auxiliares, al no disponer de lanzadores de cohetes en la parte delantera (el mayor error de la maqueta del modelo D).

Si en el caso de la maqueta del F-89D encontramos dos opciones de pintura para interceptores de fines de los años 50, en esta tenemos otras dos, pero de la reserva unos 10 años después. El aparato de la Guardia Nacional de Dakota del Norte es plateado con cola y extremos de las alas en rojo ártico, y el de la Guardia Nacional de Iowa se muestra pintado de aircraft grey (FS16473) con depósitos en rojo y negro.◊

This kit is almost identical to Academy reference #12403, [see review]. The only difference, apart from the decal set and part of the instructions is sprue J which contains the armament. You can choose either two nuclear-tipped Genie rockets or four GAR-2A Falcon missiles. Armament look nice and come with pods under the wings. Wingtip fuel tanks are also fine and avoid the biggest fault of the D kit as there are no front rocket launchers in this Scorpion model.

If we find two painting options for late 1950s interceptors in the F-89D kit, this time we have other two but for the ANG ten years later. The North Dakota aircraft was overall silver with tail and half wings in Arctic red, and the Iowa ANG Scorpion was overall aircraft grey (FS16473) with red and black wingtip tanks.◊
