VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:
- Recomendable incluso a los menos experimentados por su sencillez de montaje y pintura. Buena maqueta para iniciarse con las ediciones limitadas.

La maqueta se compone de cuatro grapas de plástico blanco. Una contiene el despiece de los flotadores, otra el fuselaje, el interior de éste y el motor, una tercera grapa lleva los soportes de las alas y flotadores, y la última las alas y estabilizadores. Hay también una grapita diminuta para los parabrisas del piloto y copiloto. El plástico es algo basto en las piezas más finas y en la cara interna del fuselaje, muestra algunas zonas con ligeras rebabas, pero viene bien detallado, con paneles incisos de diferente grosor y de la anchura correcta. Los parabrisas no son excesivamente gruesos, aunque el plástico no es muy transparente, detalle que aún debería mejorar el fabricante en algunas de sus maquetas.
Del interior tenemos lo usual en una maqueta de edición limitada: el suelo, el asiento del piloto (el copiloto se conforma con una especie de taburete sobre el suelo), la palanca de mando, el panel de instrumentos y la ametralladora con su montaje. A simple vista el fuselaje es la zona que presenta mayor dificultad de encaje, pues hay que limpiar de rebabas y lijar adecuadamente parte del interior. El motor está decentemente resuelto, aunque en apariencia su diámetro es ligeramente mayor que el del fuselaje.
Las alas vienen bien detalladas y tienen el grosor adecuado según he podido comprobar en la escasa bibliografía existente sobre este aparato, toda ella en ruso. Será necesario lijar algunas rebabas, pero el perfil es correcto. Los soportes de las alas y flotadores requieren, sin embargo, trabajo extra para adelgazarlos y darles la forma adecuada, pero no ha de resultar excesivamente difícil sustituir algunos por otros de construcción propia. El flotador central viene en tres piezas con su correspondiente soporte y ruedas para desplazar el hidro en tierra como puede verse en algunas fotos de época.
La hoja de calcas dispone, además de las insignias rusas, de numerales para el timón de cola. Las calcas presentan buen aspecto, correcta impresión y son finas. Las instrucciones consisten en una hoja tamaño A4 y muestran cinco pasos de montaje muy sencillos, un plano de piezas y un resumen histórico. En conjunto, el montaje es bastante simple, aunque no están claros los puntos de fijación de las riostras en los dibujos que aparecen. El color interior del aparato ni siquiera viene mencionado, y del exterior hay una vaga referencia sólo en ruso (como el resto de las instrucciones). Afortunadamente, he podido averiguar que el color exterior era gris claro y no blanco o plata como pensaba.
La maqueta puede recomendarse por su sencillez de montaje y pintura incluso a aquellos sin demasiada experiencia en maquetas de edición limitada. Los más experimentados pueden encontrar un aliciente en la rareza de este hidroavión poco conocido de la marina rusa.◊
The kit consists of four white styrene sprues. One contains the floats halves, there is another one for the fuselage, the cockpit interior and the engine, a third one is for the float and wing struts and the last has the wings and stabilizers. There is also another tiny clear sprue for the pilot’s and copilot’s windshields. The plastic is a bit crude in the small parts and the inner side of the fuselage halves, but it is correctly detailed with engraved panel lines which show a nice width and depth. The windshield parts are not very thick, but they are not clear enough. This is a detail still to be improved in some of their kits by the manufacturer.
The interior has just the usual parts in short run kits: the floor, a control stick, the instrument panel, the pilot’s seat (the gunner has to put up with a simple sort of stool on the floor), the machine-gun and the gun mount. At first sight the fuselage halves will surely need some extra sand and filler to get a correct fitting. There is also some flash in these parts which needs cleaning. The engine has an average detail but apparently its diameter is a bit wider than that of the fuselage.
Both wings are well detailed and each one is moulded in one piece. They are also thoroughly thick as I have been able to check in the few books (all of them in Russian) that deal with this aircraft. Some flash in the wingtips also needs some sanding, but the profile is correct. Wing and float struts, however, are not so good because there will be some extra work here to thin and shape them but some of them could be replaced by scratched ones. The central float comes in three parts with wheels for land displacement as it can be seen in some pics of the time.
The decal sheet provides some tail numbers apart from the red stars for fuselage and wings. Decals are thin with no flash and correctly printed. The instructions consist of a folded A4 sheet showing five simple building steps, parts plan and a historical summary. Overall, building this KOR-1 is quite simple but the exact fitting points for the struts are not very clearly shown in the pictures. There is no mention to the interior colour of the model, and the exterior colour is only vaguely referred to as «clear grey», not white or silver as I thought. I have found out this fact using a web translator as the instructions are only in Russian.
This kit can be recommended even to the least experienced modellers in short runs as building and painting seems easy and straightforward. Experienced modellers can also find an uncommon topic in this Russian navy seaplane.◊
