- Marcas en el interior. Puertas correderas no diseñadas para mostrarlas abiertas. Menos variedad de armamento que en otras ediciones.
- Marks on the cockpit and cargo compartment. Sliding doors are not devised to be posed open. Less variety of armament than in other releases.
VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:
- Aun con sus omisiones y defectos, es el molde más actual y detallado para hacer un Lynx de la Royal Navy.
- Even with omissions and glitches, it is still the best kit to build a Royal Navy Lynx.
La maqueta
Este HAS.3 es otra versión naval del conocido helicóptero británico Westland Lynx perteneciente a la serie de maquetas que HobbyBoss lanzó por vez primera en 2009. La maqueta comparte molde con las versiones HAS.2, Super Lynx, Mk 88 y Mk 90, esta última ya revisada en esta web (HobbyBoss 87240). Por este motivo me centraré en describir las diferencias con esta maqueta, obviando lo que poseen en común.
La caja contiene siete bastidores, dos de ellos transparentes, la hoja de calcas y las instrucciones. Las piezas transparentes y tres de los demás bastidores son idénticos a los de otras versiones de la maqueta. En este caso, además de las calcas y las instrucciones, y estas también son en gran parte iguales, la diferencia está en la inclusión de dos pequeños bastidores que contienen las palas y el morro.
Carlinga
La carlinga y todos sus detalles son iguales que los de la maqueta del Westland Lynx Mk 90.
Fuselaje
La diferencia más apreciable es el morro, que está separado en dos mitades con las aletas de las antenas UHF separadas y la nueva incorporación de una pieza que simula el radomo del radar ESM Orange Crop. Las demás piezas y detalles son iguales salvo la omisión de una pieza situada tras la puerta corredera del lado de babor que es específica para el Mk 90.
Este HAS.3 sólo tiene como armamento dos torpedos Mk 46 idénticos a los de la maqueta del Mk 90. La hoja a color de las instrucciones muestra también misiles Sea Skua y torpedos Sting Ray que no están incluidos en la edición.
Rotores y hélice
Las palas del rotor principal son específicas para el HAS.3 y no poseen las puntas BERP. Las piezas vienen separadas y muestran bastante finura sin detalle en las superficies. El rotor y las palas de cola están moldeados en una pieza que es diferente a la del Mk 90, ya que las palas son algo más cortas.
Calcas
La hoja contiene insignias británicas, diversos estarcidos, numerales, decoración del fuselaje para el aparato de la Escuadrilla 702ª y paneles en color. La hoja también incluye marcas para el armamento. Los motivos tienen aspecto brillante y están bien impresos. Destaca visualmente por su nitidez la representación del gato de la escuadrilla mencionada.
Instrucciones
Se muestran en un folleto de cuatro páginas impreso en blanco y negro. Contiene un plano numerado de piezas y once secuencias de montaje sin numerar. Una hoja separada impresa en color en papel satinado muestra perfiles y una tabla de colores con equivalencias de pintura de Gunze Sangyo, Vallejo, Model Master, Tamiya y Humbrol. Aunque hay diverso armamento incluido en los perfiles, esta edición sólo contiene torpedos Mk 46.
Los aparatos de la Royal Navy representados en los perfiles poseen básicamente la misma librea gris con las diferencias de la calca de los „Black Cats” y los paneles rojos del helicóptero de la 829ª Escuadrilla.
Valoración
Como ya escribí en la primera ocasión, pese a que la maqueta tiene sus omisiones y taras, como cualquier otra, en mi opinión es la mejor que tenemos por el momento del Westland Lynx naval en esta escala, superando en detalle y sencillez de montaje a las de otras marcas con ediciones bastante más antiguas.◊
The kit
This HAS.3 is another naval variant of the well-known British Westland Lynx helicopter belonging to the series of kits that HobbyBoss launched for the first time in 2009. The relase shares the tool with the HAS.2, Super Lynx, Mk 88 and Mk 90 versions, this last one already reviewed on this website (HobbyBoss 87240). For this reason I will focus on describing the differences with this kit, overlooking what they have in common.
The box contains seven sprues, two of them containing the clear parts, the decal sheet and the instructions. The clear pieces and three of the other sprues are identical to those present in other boxes. In this case, in addition to the decals and instructions, and these are also largely the same, the difference is in the inclusion of two small sprues that contain the main rotor blades and the nose.
Cockpit
The cockpit and all the pieces to build it are the same as those of the Westland Lynx Mk 90 kit.
Fuselage
The most noticeable difference is the nose, which is separated in upper/lower halves with separate UHF antenna fins and the new addition of a piece that simulates the Orange Crop ESM radar radome. All other pieces and details are the same except for the omission of a part behind the port side sliding door that is specific to the Mk 90.
This HAS.3 is only armed with two Mk 46 torpedoes identical to those of the Mk 90 release. The color instruction sheet also shows Sea Skua missiles and Sting Ray torpedoes which are not included in the box.
Rotors and propellers
The main rotor blades are specific to the HAS.3 and do not have BERP tips. The pieces come separate and are thin with no detail on the surfaces. The rotor and tail blades are molded in one piece which is different to the Mk 90, the blades being a bit shorter.
Decals
The sheet includes British markings, plenty of stencils, numbers, fuselage decoration and colored panels. The sheet includes markings for the armament. Decals have a glossy finish and are well printed. The 702nd Squadron black cat painted on the fuselage sides is sharply printed and visually attractive.
Instructions
They are printed on a four-page brochure printed in black and white. It shows a numered parts plan and eleven construction sequences. A separate sheet printed in color on satin paper shows profiles and a table of colors with matches in Gunze Sangyo, Vallejo, Model Master, Tamiya and Humbrol ranges.
The Royal Navy helicopters shown in the profiles have the same gray livery with differences in the decal of the „Black Cats” and the red panels painted in the 829th Squadron example.
Conclusion
As in my older review, I still think this is a recommendable kit. Despite the fact that it has omissions and glitches, as any other, it is the best we have for a naval Westland Lynx at the scale today. Overall detail and ease of assembly looks much better than older kits from other companies.◊
