LO MEJOR – THE BEST:

VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:
- Buena maqueta. Molde antiguo con paneles en relieve, pero con bonitas opciones de pintura y calcas. Recomendado para modelistas de cualquier nivel de experiencia.

Otro bonito caza del Ejército Imperial de la extensa colección de Hasegawa. Sigue la línea de otros modelos del fabricante, pero con menos piezas. La maqueta trae tres pequeñas bandejas (una de ellas de transparentes para la carlinga y el panel de mandos), y la primera impresión al abrirla es que sobra caja por todas partes. Uno se pregunta si no habrá adquirido un Hayate a 1/144 en lugar de a 1/72. Pero visto en detalle se aprecia que cada pieza está muy bien realizada, sin marcas de eyector y con escasas rebabas. Especialmente el fuselaje y el motor son excelentes. También se han detallado los pozos del tren de aterrizaje, cosa no muy frecuente en la colección. Todo esto debe permitir que su construcción no presente especial dificultad.
Sobre el interior hay que decir que está algo mejor detallado de lo normal. Aunque no hay más piezas de lo habitual (suelo, asiento, panel de mandos y palanca de control), el suelo de la carlinga está mejor conseguido. El panel de mandos lo forman una pieza transparente y su calca. No se incluye figura alguna.
Las líneas de panel más finas están en relieve, lo que denota un molde antiguo. Los pequeños tubos de escape que sobresalen de la cubierta del motor mejoran notablemente el aspecto exterior del avión. El tren de aterrizaje también es bastante correcto, y en las ruedas se ha conseguido representar hasta las minúsculas tuercas de sujeción. Las compuertas del tren de aterrizaje trasero van incluidas en el fuselaje, por lo que al unir ambas mitades de éste, sólo tendremos que introducir la pequeña rueda trasera. Como complemento se han añadido dos tanques de combustible auxiliares.
Las instrucciones son correctas e incluyen el ya tradicional resumen histórico del aparato, la referencia de pintura y dos esquemas de color, afortunadamente bien distintos. El primero, que da título a la caja, es el de un aparato del Regimiento de Vuelo 47º basado en Narimasu, cerca de Tokio, en mayo del 45. Su esquema de color es verde oscuro sobre verde grisáceo. La otra versión corresponde al 10º Escuadrón de Entrenamiento con base en Awajishima así mismo en mayo de 1945. Este aparato va pintado completamente en color plateado a excepción de la parte superior del morro, que lleva la tradicional banda negra azulada.
La hoja de calcas merece un comentario aparte por su extraordinaria calidad. No sólo está muy bien impresa, sino que proporciona unas excelentes marcas en color que realzarán la maqueta una vez terminada.
Este Ki-84 de Hasegawa es muy recomendable y apta para cualquier modelista, independientemente de su nivel, ya que incluso construido directamente de la caja puede resultar un bonito modelo.◊
Another cool Japanese Army fighter in Hasegawa extensive collection. It is in the same trend of other kits by the manufacturer. The model comprises three small sprues (one of them containing clear parts for the canopy and the instrument panel). When you first open the box, you are surprised by the small size of the sprues. You even wonder if you have bought a 1/144 rather than a 1/72 Hayate. But after a closer inspection you can see that each part is very well moulded, with no pin marks and few seams. The engine and fuselage are especially splendid. The wheel wells are also well detailed, not so common thing in the collection. With all this, building this Hayate should not be a especially hard task.
The interior is better detailed than usual. Although there are no extra parts (you have a floor, control stick, pilot’s seat, instrument panel and a decal for it), the cockpit floor is quite well done. There is no pilot figure.
The panel lines are raised, which shows the age of the tooling. For the benefit of detailers, the tiny exhaust pipes are also nicely done. The landing gear is correct, and the manufacturer has achieved to show even the smallest bolts in the wheels. You will not have to assemble the tailwheel doors because they are included in the fuselage halves. As undercarriage, Hasegawa has included two auxiliary fuel tanks.
The instructions are correct and provide the typical historical summary about the aircraft, paint reference and two color schemes (luckily quite different). The first one depicts an aircraft from the 47th Flight Regiment (the one showed in the artbox), based on Narimasu, near Tokyo, in May 1945. This Ki-84 was painted in dark green over grey green. The other version corresponds to 10th Training Squadron from Awajishima in the same month and year. This Hayate was overall silver except for the black blueish stripe on the cowling top.
The decal sheet is worth a further comment. They are simply excellent, and not only because they are finely printed and are not too thick, but also because they provide beautiful colour markings that will surely improve the model once finished.
This Hasegawa Ki-84 is quite recommendable and suitable for any modeler regardless his experience. Even if you decide to build it out of the box, you can get a beautiful model of this famous aircraft.◊
