LO MEJOR – THE BEST:

Montaje sencillo. Múltiples y diferentes opciones de pintura. Buen detalle general, especialmente en la caja de carga.

LO PEOR – THE WORST:

Puertas cerradas, pero con un poco de trabajo extra se pueden mostrar abiertas. Toldo.

VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:

Maqueta básica pero muy atractiva. Agradecerá también cualquier detalle añadido. Apta para modelistas de cualquier nivel.

Componen esta sencilla maqueta dos bastidores, un trozo de plástico transparente para fabricar los cristales, una pequeña hoja de calcas y las instrucciones. El plástico se presenta limpio de rebabas y las marcas de eyector apenas son visibles en la cara interna de las ruedas, por lo que probablemente en algunas de ellas no merezca la pena eliminarlas. El bastidor más grande contiene todas las piezas del vehículo a excepción de la caja, los soportes de ésta, el toldo y tres bidones de combustible, que se encuentran en el bastidor pequeño.

El montaje parece bastante simple. La zona del chasis viene bien detallada para esta escala y se compone del bastidor de una pieza, ballestas de la suspensión, diferencial, árbol de transmisión, tubo de escape y palieres delanteros. Las ruedas llevan el dibujo de la banda de rodadura excesivamente marcado, así que necesitan un poco de lija para darles mejor aspecto. Tal vez lo menos convincente de la maqueta sea la parte delantera del chasis. La cabina, el alojamiento del motor, los asientos y los guardabarros delanteros forman una sola pieza. El interior de la cabina es muy pobre, sólo tiene un tablero de instrumentos apenas detallado y un volante con un eje muy corto. No hay pedales ni palanca de marchas. El frontal y techo de la cabina están moldeados de una pieza, de modo que sólo hay que pegar las puertas y la parte trasera. Las puertas vienen en piezas separadas, pero para mostrarlas abiertas hay que cortar la parte inferior y algo de la delantera, que pueden rehacerse en plástico sin demasiada dificultad. Al igual que en otras maquetas de Italeri, las instrucciones nos dan las medidas exactas de las piezas correspondientes a los cristales, que hay que cortar de la lámina transparente.

Una vez montada la cabina, sólo queda armar la caja y montar sus soportes al chasis, lo que no es nada complicado. Las paredes y suelo de la caja de transporte tienen bien grabados los tablones de madera por ambas caras, como debe ser, pero no traen el detalle de los cierres posteriores. El toldo es de una pieza, sencillote y rígido, sin detalle, pero no es inservible si se va a montar el modelo de caja. Hay además tres bidones de combustible que se pueden sustituir por otros de resina. Para esta maqueta hay un juego de mejora específico de la marca Mig Productions (72-087) que reproduce el toldo, el frontal del capó e incluye un conductor. Lo que más merece la pena de este producto es sin duda el toldo y el conductor si decidimos incluirlos en nuestro modelo.

Pese a ser pequeña, la hoja de calcas es muy completa. Hay incluso diferentes rótulos para las puertas dependiendo de la versión que decidamos hacer, además de marcas identificativas de unidad y cinco matrículas diferentes. Las instrucciones son las usuales de Italeri, básicas y sencillas de seguir. Entre lo mejor de esta maqueta están las diversas opciones de pintura, que muestran vehículos con y sin camuflaje de diversos periodos de la guerra, nada sorprendente, por otro lado, si consideramos que el Opel Blitz fue de los camiones más usados por el Ejército alemán. La parte posterior de la caja muestra tres de dichas versiones, pero hay dos más en las instrucciones.

En definitiva, este Opel Blitz es una maqueta sencilla de montar directamente de caja, pero también susceptible de ser mejorada por el modelista de más nivel. Por este motivo me parece recomendable tanto para noveles como para expertos.◊

The kit consists of two sprues, a small clear plastic sheet to make the windows, a small decal sheet and the instructions. Plastic looks quite free from flash and there are only minor ejector marks on the inner side of wheels, which in some cases won’t be visible at all once the kit is built. The bigger sprue contains all the necessary parts to assemble the truck except for the cargo deck, deck holders, the canvas and three fuel drums which are in the smaller sprue.

Assembly seems quite simple and straightforward. The chassis is quite well detailed for the scale and consists of chassis frame, differential, propeller shaft, exhaust and front-wheel drive shafts. The tread pattern on wheels is too deep, so I think they need some sanding to make them look more realistic. The front chassis is perhaps the less convincing aspect in this kit. The cab floor, the engine hollow, the seats and the front fenders are molded on one part. The cab interior is also quite poor, with only a slightly detailed dashboard and a steering wheel with a too short steering column. There are no pedals or gear lever. The cab front and roof are also molded in one part, so you only have to assemble the rear cabin wall and the doors. Doors are separate parts, but to show them open you’ll need to slightly trim the bottom and front sections, but these can be scratchbuilt in sheet plastic without too much effort. As it happens in other Italeri kits, instructions show the exact measures to cut out the windows from the transparent sheet.

Once finished the cab, the rest is only fitting the body and the chassis, which doesn’t seem complicated at all. The body walls and floor show finely engraved wooden planks on both sides, the only minor drawback is in the lack of body latches in the tailgate, but you can also scratchbuild them. The tarp comes in one part, it’s not detailed and a bit stiff, but not useless either if you want to build your model out of the box. There are also three fuel drums which can be better replaced by resin counterparts. Mig Productions make a specific upgrade set for this kit (72-087) which includes the canvas, the front hood, a driver figure and some other small bits. The most usable replacement are the canvas and the figure if you decide to include them in your model.

Although not very big, the decal sheet is quite thorough, there are even different stencils for the cab doors depending on the version you choose to build as well as unit markings and five different plates. Instructions are Italeri’s own, basic, clear and easy to follow. Among the best things of this kit are the five different options you have to paint your model. Three of them are reproduced on the box and all five are also in the instructions. They show different plain and camouflaged paint schemes the Opel Blitz wore along the war, no wonder as it was one of the most used German vehicles in all fronts.

Definitively, this is a recommendable kit for both beginners and experienced modelers as it can be built directly OOB or used as a base by detailers.◊
