LO MEJOR – THE BEST:
- Buena apariencia general. Piezas de resina de buena calidad. Interior detallado. Variedad de opciones con calcas atractivas. Mejor detalle que la edición anterior.
- Good general shape. Fine resin parts. Finely detailed interior. Attractive decals. Better interior detail than previous release.
LO PEOR – THE WORST:
- Problemas de encaje en las alas y en el cubremotor. Líneas de panel demasiado anchas.
- Fitting issues in wings and cowling. Panel lines too wide.
VALORACIÓN – CONCLUSION:
- A día de hoy es una de las maquetas mejor detallada del Hayabusa, aunque no la más fácil de montar. Para modelistas con experiencia.
- Nowadays it’s one of the best detailed kits of the Hayabusa, but not the easiest to assemble. For experienced modelers.
Para no repetirme, me centraré en las diferencias con la maqueta anterior de AML, cuya revisión puede consultarse aquí. Aunque ambas ediciones poseen idénticas piezas de plástico, la que me ocupa trae mayor número de piezas de resina y un juego de fotograbados. El juego de resinas añade una bomba, los flaps (que pueden mostrarse abiertos con la parte interior horadada de fotograbado) y dos cubremotores sólo ligeramente distintos en las salidas de los escapes. Uno de ellos es igual a la maqueta anterior con salidas para 7 tubitos (2-3-2), mientras el otro trae una menos (1-3-2). Sin embargo, las piezas de los escapes propiamente dichas vienen sólo con la primera distribución que menciono, por lo que si deseamos hacer la de 6 escapes (que corresponde en las instrucciones a la 64º Hiko Sentai), habremos de cortar uno de ellos a cada lado. La resina es de calidad, sin burbujas ni rebabas y también ha mejorado la pieza correspondiente al interior de los pozos, que parece más afinada que en la primera maqueta, lo que ocasiona serios problemas al pegar las mitades de las alas.
La pequeña plancha de fotograbados incluye los pedales, los cinturones del piloto, piezas alternativas para el panel de instrumentos (con diales de acetato) y las compuertas del tren de aterrizaje. Hay además piezas diminutas para los actuadores de los flaps que parecen complicados de montar puesto que primero hay que cortar o rebajar los que ya vienen moldeados en la parte inferior de las alas.
Las instrucciones tampoco difieren de las anteriores salvo en el caso de los cubremotores o que haya opción de montar piezas en resina o fotograbado. Esta edición está dedicada a Hayabusas del periodo final de la guerra, cuando fueron usados como aparatos suicidas o cazabombarderos. Los colores son idénticos en las cuatro versiones, marrón rojizo sobre gris, pero las calcas son excelentes y hacen difícil decidirse por una versión concreta.
Aún más si cabe que en la edición anterior, recomiendo esta maqueta a modelistas con alguna experiencia previa.◊
To avoid repeating the same article, I’ll focus on the differences between this kit and AML’s previous release whose review you can read here. Although both kits share the same plastic sprue, this kit #72 033 includes a PE fret and more resin parts. These add a bomb, the butterfly flaps (which can be posed open showing the interior holed PE surface) and two cowlings. They are only different in the number of exhaust outlets. One of them is the same as in the previous kit with seven tiny exhausts (2-3-2) while the other has only six (1-3-2), however there is only two resin parts for the exhausts which means you will have to cut off one exhaust pipe on each side if yoy wish to build the 64th Hiko Sentai version. Resin parts are well moulded with no flash or bubbles and also the wheel wells seem thinner this time. This avoids one of the major troubles the previous kit has when fitting the wing halves.
The small PE fret includes the pedals, the pilot’s belts and alternative parts for the instrument panel (with acetate dials) and the mainwheel doors. There are also tiny parts for the flaps actuators which seem difficult to build as you will have to cut or sand those moulded on the wings.
Instructions are basically the same with clear diagrams showing alternative options for the resin or PE parts mentioned. This edition is devoted to the Hayabusas which operated in the last period of the war, when they were used by suicide units or in the fighter-bomber role. Colours are the same for the four versions, red brown over light grey, but decals are quite attractive making difficult to decide which unit to choose.
Even more than in the case of the previous kit, I’d recommend it to those modelers with some experience in multimedia kits, but not to beginners.◊
